TOUR

Tarangire / Serengeti / Ngorongoro / Lake Eyasi

Duration

6 DAYS

The classic Northern Circuit — plus one remarkable detour. Three of Tanzania’s iconic parks followed by a morning with the Hadzabe, one of the last hunter-gatherer tribes on earth. This is Northern Tanzania at its most complete.

01 Day by Day

Day 1 – Moshi to Tarangire National Park

Distance

3-4 hours drive from Moshi

Your safari begins with a drive to Tarangire National Park — one of Tanzania’s most underrated gems. The Tarangire River acts as a magnet for wildlife during the dry season, drawing enormous herds of elephant and giraffe to its banks. Ancient baobab trees punctuate the landscape, giving the park a scenery unlike anywhere else in the country. After a picnic lunch inside the park, the afternoon game drive continues until it’s time to head to your camp or lodge for dinner and a well-earned rest. Meals: picnic lunch, dinner
Day 2 – Tarangire to Serengeti National Park

Distance

6 hours drive

Leaving Tarangire behind, you set off for the Serengeti — a drive that takes you up through the highlands of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, with sweeping views across the crater rim. By the time you descend onto the plains of the Serengeti and the endless grass opens up before you, it’s clear why this place has captivated the world’s imagination. An afternoon game drive puts you straight into the action before dinner under the stars at your camp or lodge. Meals: breakfast, picnic lunch, dinner
Day 3 – Full Day Serengeti

Distance

Full day in park

A full day with nowhere to be but the Serengeti. This is what you came for — uninterrupted hours on the open plains, tracking predators, watching the drama of the ecosystem unfold at its own pace. A picnic lunch in the bush keeps you out in the park all day, maximizing every hour of game viewing. Back at camp or lodge by evening for dinner and the sounds of the African night. Meals: breakfast, picnic lunch, dinner
Day 4 – Serengeti to Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Distance

Approx 3 hours drive

You leave the Serengeti and make your way to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, descending into a landscape where Maasai herders still coexist with wildlife across sweeping highlands. Tonight you sleep on the crater rim — at 2,286 metres it’s cooler than you might expect, so an extra layer is welcome. The anticipation for tomorrow’s crater drive begins the moment you arrive. Meals: breakfast, picnic lunch, dinner
Day 5 – Ngorongoro Crater to Lake Eyasi

Distance

Crater drive + 2 hours drive to Lake Eyasi

This is one of the great safari experiences on earth. You descend into the Ngorongoro Crater — a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the densest concentrations of wildlife anywhere in Africa. The crater floor hosts lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, hippo, and one of the last stable black rhino populations on the continent. The Big Five in a single day is genuinely possible here. After your crater game drive you travel to Lake Eyasi, arriving in the late afternoon. Meals: breakfast, picnic lunch, dinner
Day 6 – Lake Eyasi Hadzabe Experience and Return to Moshi

Distance

Approx 3 hours drive to Moshi

An extraordinary morning awaits at Lake Eyasi, where you join the Hadzabe — one of the last true hunter-gatherer tribes left in the world. Armed with bows and arrows, they move through the bush with a skill and knowledge that has remained unchanged for thousands of years. You follow them on a morning hunt, witnessing a way of life that feels profoundly different from anything in modern experience. In the afternoon, you make your way back to Moshi. Activity: Hadzabe cultural experience | Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner
